About Hindi Calendar

Hindi Calendar celebrates the Hindi language itself — today's date written in Devanagari, a daily doha from classical Hindi poets, and a calendar of festivals that matter to Hindi-speaking communities, including Hindi Diwas.

A daily doha

Each day features a couplet from Kabir, Tulsidas, or Rahim — poets whose work forms the bedrock of Hindi literature and has long been in the public domain — shown in Devanagari with a plain-language meaning.

Hindi Diwas

We mark 14 September, Hindi Diwas, the anniversary of the day Hindi in the Devanagari script was adopted as an official language of the Union in 1949.

How this differs from Hindu Calendar

Our sister site, Hindu Calendar, focuses on detailed Panchang calculations — Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, and Karana. Hindi Calendar keeps things lighter: a simple calendar, verified festival dates, and a focus on the language and literature themselves.

Festival dates

Festival dates are researched and verified for the current year. See our disclaimer for details on regional variation.

Part of the Daily Calendar network

Hindi Calendar is one of a small family of calendar sites, each built for a different community's needs.
